what is done to it now? lets see, you can grind the fuel plate and slide it forward. you can slide the AFC housing forward. you can adjust the starwheel screw. you can adjust the "smoke screw". you can adjust the timing on it. you can crank up the governor springs a little. what all do you want out of it?

oh well, i have a map to the darkside

Turning up the pump

A great outline. Also there is a ton of detailed information in the top sticky threads. Definitely a good crash course.

A good start would be determining what has been done to the pump, and what you want out of this truck. "Turned up a little" is subject to interpretation as well. A good start seems to be, a modified plate, AFC mods, and a set of 3k gov. springs. The smoke screw, just adjusts pre boost fuel, and won't give you any added power per say, The star wheel just adjusts the pre load on the spring in the AFC. Read up on the stickies in the top of this section, and you will gather a fair amount of information that can be used for deciding what you want out of your pump and how you want it to act. Some guys love smoke, and some guys like myself strive to limit it as much as possible.
