Finally got an answer from our dealership and it is not good! Ford wants to offer me 2 payments or give me a 5 year 75,000 bumper to bumper warranty. They claim that 5 EGR valves and two turbos is just little problems and not really bad ones.

We are going to go into the dealership on Thursday to try to run some numbers on a new truck but I am also thinking of buying a used one instead. It just really sucks because I bought the truck of my dreams and now here I am having to make a choice if I want to keep it or not!

Will let you know more after Thursday.

2004 Ford F350 Lariat Dually 44,000 miles lemon EGR, two turbo's
Done with diesel's for now. Lost my @#$ on the two we had. 40 times in the shop between the both of them.

Contact the Better Business Bureau ASAP. I had to go that route in 99 when I bought a lemon. Although I didn't get a new truck, I did get a brand new long block with only 12k miles on the old one.

I have done some looking into the lemon law here in Ohio and it doesn't look like my truck falls into the catergory. Maybe I'll try contacting a lawyer and see what they say.

Hey Largecar,
Who did you write to at Ford? I think I may write a letter like you did.

My truck has 54,000 on it now. In the last year my truck has been at the dealer 3 times. I have had the turbo replaced, EGR replaced, ICP replaced, new crankcase, new cooler assembly, and misc other stuff. Now it is at the dealer with a failed #8 injector and an oil leak. The dealer told me the oil leak was only a gasket and not the bedplate.....we'll see on that one....

I just run the truck stock now and don't run my SCT at all. Ifigure it is better this way in case I do have any chance at a buyback down the road.

I just wrote a letter outlining the problems we had with the truck, and sent copies of the oasis report. I was nice and did not berate anybody or anything. I explained that I knew when things are mass produced there are bound to be bad units and that I thought we had a bad unit. I also explained that we had bought the truck expecting to use it in our retirement years of RVing and that we had lost confidence in this particular truck, not in Ford trucks in general. It was a non accusing letter, just an information packed letter. I also included a Dispute Settlement Board Application, which I got from the Dispute Settlement Board P.O. Box 1424 Waukesha, WI 53187-1424.

Good luck.

Well we hated to do it but ford would not buy our truck back so we had the dealership run some numbers (of course in our favor) and I am proud to say that we have traded in our truck on a brand new '08 F350 Lariat dually. We were very polite and asked lots of questions but as ford told us, "Our problems were not really that bad just a few issues". Lets just say that the deal we got on our '08 is even better then the deal we got on our '04. Sticker was $53,000 but we only had to finance $41,000. I can't tell you the strings that they pulled but I will say that we left smiling!!!

The best part is that the '04 needed 6 new tires and the truck was having no power again so I am glad to wash my hands of it!!!
