How do you know if you have bad injector

I have a 2005 F-250 with 75,000k on it and my 5 year factory warrenty just ran out I'm trying to decide whether I should trade up or gamble on the motor. How do I know if I have bad a bad injector and what should I do? When its warm outside the truck seems to start and run fine but when its cold below 35 degrees it sputters and coughs and sounds like the motor is coming apart. What are the typical symptoms of a cold 6.0 L starting up? Also, is it dangerous to get a chip because I've heard about alot of problems with the motor?

I have an 05 as well and my warranty is over in Feb. I can't comment on how to determine if an injector is bad.

I did have cold start issues like you are describing and I took my truck to the dealer and got the lastest reflash strategy calibrations.

Also, turned out my FICM was bad. Now it starts awesome even on the Street Canned tune on my X3. Last week I started it every moring without problems and it was 15-18 degrees after sitting overnight. Started up quick and smooth.

Has your truck been reflashed? How's your batterys?

I injector Buzz test along with a Cylinder contribution test should tell you if you have a bad injector...

why is your warranty up? if your an 05 with 75,000 u should still be under the 5yr 100,000

04 6.0, studs,dj fuel +,isspro gauges,sct by eric,4in silverline w/o kitty,HID's, and other odds and ends
