No reverse after 4R100 rebuild

I spent last weekend rebuilding my brother in laws tranny for him and we took our time , used the proper tools, and followed the ATSG manual exactly. Here is the issue. When you first crank the truck and put her in reverse she will lock in and back up for about 30 - 50 feet then she starts slipping really bad. It gets to the point where i can lay on the gas and she will start to move again, but only under higher RPM's. There is no noticeable engaging into gear when shifting to reverse. The forward gears are working pretty well, but they slip a bit under higher rpm's. The fluid level is full and all forward gears and neutral engage and shift fine except under higher loads. So.... i am at a loss. I made sure all the bearings were faced the right way and I checked all clearances needed in the build. It just feels like she isn't grabbing tight enough in the clutches or something. Any help would be great.

If you replaced all of the normal wear items and checked everything else it should work fine......unless you reassembled it incorrectly. Pull it out and open it back up. I'm no transmission guy, but it soulds like maybe you put something in backwards or something. Check the line pressure before you tear it out. It may have low pressure, making it slip. Is the pump new too? Are you sure the T/C is seated all the way? You did hear it "clunk" twice when putting it back on the trans, right? Did you pre-fill it with fluid? How about the valve-body.....are you sure, and I mean 100% sure, that all the check-balls are back in the correct places?
