Exclamation DTC P0700, TCM Malfunction

Hey Guys,
Just got home from overseas for 6 months and I have a few questions. $20 bucks to the first person that can help me out.
The truck sat for that time and the wife did start it every few weeks. I have a trouble code right now that is DTC P0700, TCM Malfunction according to my predator programmer. Can someone please help me out with this trouble code? I will put the truck into gear and it seems to fall out of gear, making a clunking noise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, I was thinking about some performance upgrades, but this trouble code has me worried. I was curious about torque converter upgrade or a valve body upgrade. I would like to add an air take in would like to take any recommendations.

Thanks,
lindy

TCM is Transmission Control Module. One of two things in the problem. The TCM is bad, or a wire (most likely a ground) is loose.

Robert~
Thank you for your response. I have been worrying over this for the last few hours. TCM to me is exactly what you have described it as, the guys on Duramax Forums think my tranny is in limp mode and that doesn't make sense to me. But I am still learning this gig.......

I realized that transmission upgrades in the matter of a built transmission or valve body upgrade or a torque converter upgrade may have prevented this. Everyone adds power through a chip/exhaust/intake and IMO should be looking at tranny upgrades first.

Limp mode most likely would occur while driving. Your original post states the truck sat for a while before this happened. My guess would be either the ground is bad, or moisture got into it and shorted something out.
