kenworth fuel issues

on a kenworth t600 05 does anybody know on a doulble suck,double return,is there any valves in the lines or is it pure flow from pickup tubes to filter and from return to tank,fighting restriction and have repkaced fuel lines,was wandering if iam overlooking something?

On my 05 there are no valves anywhere on the suction. There is a valve on the return line underneath the bunk, that levels out the fuel going to each tank. This probably wouldn't have anything to do with restriction. But what I have done is take that valve off, take the cover off, pull the spring out and the flapper thingy....very technical...and drill out everthing you see in that valve. This Valve has caused me to freeze up numerous times on every Kenworth I've owned. It might help. Just an idea.

If you have a C15, there are updated fuel filter bases you can get from Cat to reduce the restriction on the secondary engine mounted filter. It is a known problem. Getting longer fuel filters help as well. More area to pull fuel through. Best to stay with Cat, Fleetguard or Baldwin filters. Others like Carquest filters, I've usually had HIGHER restriction with NEW filters, vs the ones that had 20k on them. That is BS!

Another thing on a Cat, is to replace the fuel bypass valve. Spring gets weak, and you lose fuel pressure. Dirty fuel filters make it even worse. Only costs ~$25 to replace.

I'd leave our the Baldwin thing. If you buy the cheapest filter made, you are installing the cheapest filter made. Their flow specs are just pitiful (according to the latest data)

We've had good luck with the Baldwins on our Macks and ISX. Don't recall using them on our Cats, though. Never been any on my W9.

Boss has gotten to be a tight @$$ with the filters. All he has gotten are the damn Carquest filters. Suspect I've got an injector taking dump on me now. Slight loss in power, and an across the board .5mpg loss, OTR or short haul. Rough idle and a bit rough cruising or under load. Showed up even worse with the fuel temp harness, so I removed it. Been trying to get his friends laptop to put on it and run some tests, but so far all I'm doing is

Overhead may need to be run as well. Not sure if it has even been done or not. Bought it used. ~470k miles on it right now.

With 470 may as well wait a couple oil changes and do bearings too. And yes, you puked and injector, so may get two valve sets anyway
