: I've got a couple of Q's here
sstockton 03-19-2006, 12:25 AM I just popped an intercooler boot last night, Should I just put it back on and call it good, or once they go are they inclined to go again? Should I get the Heavy duty boots is what I'm asking. I have the Stock turbo, with a drag comp and 275's, I didn't expect the boots to be much of a concern with this setup, but there you have it.

rubberneck 03-19-2006, 05:40 AM If the boot isn't damaged, no need to replace it, it will hold with what you have for boost. Clean it up and then spray the pipes and inside of the boot with hair spray. Put a healthy coat on and work fast. It is slippery when wet, and then dries like glue. Put the clamps on tight and you should have no more problems.
WOW, does that remind me of enduro racing......LOL
rubberneck 03-19-2006, 08:17 AM Yup, same theory, and it works. i have seen this trick hold 80 psi on stock boots. They might blow up, but they wont blow off LOL At that level the heavy duty boots like the ones Piers sells would definitely be advisable, but the aquanet works baby:woot:
.........oh my gosh, That's EXACTLY what we used. I remember the "pink" can with a fishnet pattern!
sstockton 03-19-2006, 03:12 PM awesome, good call, I'll go pick some up in just a bit then.

Billysgoat 03-19-2006, 11:25 PM Remember you torque the clamp bolts to 100 INCH pounds, NOT 100 ftlbs. If you don't have a torque wrench, that's pretty darned tight for a 1/4 bolt LOL LOL
sstockton 03-20-2006, 03:28 AM Yeah, I retorqued them today, it lasted for about 15mins. To be totally honest though, I didn't try the hair spray thing, I was in a bit of a hurry. Unfortunately like always, that ends up taking more time in the end. I'm gonna do it again tomorrow, and give the hairspray a shot.

sstockton 03-24-2006, 10:46 PM Okay, well I'm really starting to hate this darn boot. I tried the hair spray and it just popped off again. So I just made the rounds, and talked to dodge, they want over $100 for a stock replacement. So I got some heavy duty clamps, and I'm gonna try those with the hair spray once more, and not get on it hard for a day or so. And if that doesn't work, then I guess I'm ordering Heavy duty boots. Is there anywhere I can buy them individually.
Thanks, Sean
skinz0021 03-25-2006, 03:34 AM i am also a member of "Hemi Truck Club" and they use a dealer and he gives better prices for members.
His name is Art at Henson Motors 1800530jeep.
he might be able to help and give you a deal-tell him a htc member sent you and you have a mopar and he might be willing to do the same for you??
we should try to get a hook up like him for this sight.
sstockton 03-25-2006, 06:26 AM That is a good idea, getting together and finding a cool dealer. My local dealer said they'd sell it to me at wholesale, which is $73 but that is still more than Haisley wants which is $55 for the upper boots. On another note, I got new clamps, and everything off really well, and was able to tighten it down a little better, and now it seems to be holding quite well. So we'll see how long it lasts. Thanks for all the help guys.
