What do you plan to do with the truck? Drag race? Towing? Sled Pulling? It all depends- either way both will need upgrades when the power gets turned up....

:stupid: LOL
Give us an idea what you want to do with the truck, if you plan to race, tow, play or pull.

:agreed: Towing manual, racing or a lot of driving in town auto. Like they said, both will need upgrades if you get high hp:smoke: . The auto will cost a lot more:barf: . It just depends on what you want:HappyMugs .

auto is best for racing and is expensive to upgrade (and is immediatly needed once stock hp is surpassed) and the manual is not fast enough for racing, but perfectly strong and sturdy for towing and working.

For towing 2-3x a week,id look for a 6 speed truck, and keep an eye out for a used exhaust brake.Add a strong clutch, and you have a great foundation for adding power.

I have a 6spd, for towing it is the schizzle  For racing it is the worst LOL LOL Plan on a clutch upgrade, the stock clutch in a 6spd is weak as hell, I slipped my stocker with just a set of injectors, got another clutch, added a box and bigger injectors, shortly needed another clutch :pissed:
Moral of this story? get the best you can afford when it comes to the clutch, it's worth it in the long run.

If your looking for something with low miles.
I'd go with a Auto, flush the trany, then add a ATS or BD or DTT Valve Body.
I've got a 6 sp florida trk for sale[2001] strong truck......robt
