Alright, rebuilt my trany
ATS T/C 5 Star
Shift Kit
Stock Rebuild kit
And using a mix of Amsoil Full Systhetic and a little bit of a Valvoline ATF+4

Transmission rocks.
But on slightly cold mornings it will stall out the engine.
Then engine runs fine, always!!!
Nothing wrong the truck besides that, now after only 20 seconds of run time. It'll be alright. But has anyone else ran into this and what even makes this possible?

It is very common with big injectors usually.There is a hi idle reflash for cold weather use,it is a flash that brings the idle rpm up to 850 from 800,beleive it or not,that little bit is enough to do the trick with most trucks

Does it stall when in neutral, or when you go into gear?

If it only happens going into gear, it is from the tighter convertor.

If you shut your comp off when cold it won't stall going into gear. How do like the convertor? I'm looking for a convertor for my 01 and can't decide.

With stock injectors,it shouldnt stall going into gear.It is usually the combination of a tight TC,quick clutch pack apply from high pressure VB,and big injectors all together.Try rolling 5mph in N,then dropping into D,if it still stalls i doubt its from the TC.

It doesn't stall when i did that.


I only stalls when going into gear.


So this might be a good thing?

Phil,just how tight is your TC? The trucks I drove with ATS setups were similar in that they only ran a slightly tighter than stock stall,which shouldnt be a problem.

I am running 2.5 injectors with the comp so maybe it is the total combo, we just shut the comp off during cold starts and it solves the problem.

My T>C is a ATS 5 Star, I don't know how tight it is.:shrug:



I'm gonna try shutting off my comp tomorrow if I remember :HappyMugs :barf:
