I'd like to hear opinions on which turbo to go on top of a 3b/26.

Currently a stock 35/12 and I want to get the best spooling replacement I can but it needs to support 600hp with the 3b.

Truck made 556 uncorrected hp as is in good air. Made 505 in pretty bad air. Makes in excess of 60 psi boost now (60psi gauge). I want to move better air and I don't see myself making more than 600hp with this truck.

So, what do I buy?

If it were my rig, i would twin it.......

David's rig is Twinned...he just has a set of Garmon's "baby" twins on it now.... I'm with Dom...I see alot of b1's and 40's on top....i like the idea of a modded 40 personally..

Modded 40's work very well. ive got the pdr street twins, forgot what turbos they use tho......ill look it up. All i know is it works great for me. btw their twin systems can and will push more boost than they advertise;):D

Street Twins HX40 HT3B 70 psi 550HP - 700HP. that is what the street twins run, and quite frankly i dont think ive been more pleased with a mod. 80 lbs of boost, my truck will push me through the seat.

just a train of thought.....but just think of this Tim.... somthing like a mid B series....and a HX 55 after it

Just thinkin out loud for the people running massive amounts of fuel.

Spoolin and dualin,

Dom, how much power does you set-up make?

I am familar with the 40/3b combo, works very well but I wanted something that will spool quicker. I really don't think I will push this truck past 600hp which will provide mid 12's.

What about HTB2 turbo's or hybrid 40/35. What if I go with an external wastegate?

My rig makes 700 and change horses the way its set up right now. i can make more or less depending in how i time it, and how i adjust the boost. External wastegates are good if you want to really dial in your boost. My twins actually spool very well. i havent had much experiance with the HTB2 turbo, but have a bud with one in his rig. ill ask him bout it when i see him later. The hybrid 40/35 is a great turbo. boost capacity of a 40, with the spool of a 35, while being reasonably priced:)

David, I told you to go with a S300. With the fuel you are running, it will spool quick. I guess you need to ride in Mallory's truck sometime.
You could get a HX40 exhaust housing machined to fit and use it's wastegate, or you could just put on an external. Most HX40's compressor wheels are 60mm, a stock s300 has a 61mm, then HT adapts to fit their 62, 64, or 66. Did you know that S300's are also used on some John Deere and Cat applications?!?!

And they are almost the sole turbo for international. beside the garrett for the dt444e. you are talking about Schwitzer turbos, correct?

Thanks for the replies.

Wyatt, Jeff has an S300 with my name on it. I think it will be too much for me. Jeff doesn't think so. I just know I hate lag. I am thinking about going the external WG route, and maybe even keeping the 35. Shoot I don't know.

I'm up here in Owenboro KY for a few days... I have time to think on it.

Keep the suggestions coming...

i think you would like a good external waste gate also. you have plenty of boost, but you need to free up the top end hp. and dumping the back pressure is the best way to do it.

external wastegate and an HX40 compressor. If you havent measured drive pressures yet,its worth doing,It will let you know if you need to add an external wastegate and will help in tuning it or the one you have now.If you dont want to go with an external gate,at least get the hybrid (HX40 compressor, with a 14Cm housing). I agree on the spool up,i have the PDR street twins, and while i love them,I would like a slightly faster spool up,even if it cost me 10-20hp on top.
