OK my buddy was trying to put a new clutch in his truck because the other one was.........just shot. I helped him pull the transmission and also helped him button it up after he already had it splined so I missed the installation of the new clutch. Now the truck won't even go into gear, it's like the clutch will not disengage. I've never put a new clutch in and don't know what he could have done wrong. Any suggestions, or was it even the clutch.

im used to putting clutches in semi's and after i do that i have to adj. the linkage and the cluthc itself, (they have adj rings around the clutch) however i doubt yours would, but if your linkage is to long then u may not be releasing the clutch all the way therefore not letting your input shaft stop spinning...just a thought though, i have never replaced a clutch out of a cummins either. hope it helps

Sounds like the throw out bearing fork came off the pivot ball.

Something in the throw out area is not lined up/working correctly.

THe slave/ mastercyl. could be bad also. Mine did the same thing right after I put my new one in. I haven't replaced it yet because it got better(mostly)

Ok so drop the trans. agian and what should I be looking for when I do, like I said I wasn't there when he put everything back in so I don't know if all went smooth when he did.

There is a pivot ball on the passenger side of the transmission inside the bell housing, it is retained by a small metal clip, make sure that it is fully seated. Also make sure the throwout bearing is in good working condition and installed correctly if it was not replaced. If these things checkout to be in working order, I would look into the slave cylinder.
