Looking to find out what kinda tranny I have on my 1988 F-250 4X4 7.3 non turbo
It seems to be a 3 or 4 speed auto with NO overdrive. Also wondering which transfer case it might have on it. Both have been rebuilt recently and were stock as far as I know. Is it the C6 auto? whats the est. value of this tranny ?

Chances are you have a C6 auto, if it has 3 selector positions on the shifter. It has a kind of rectangular pan with an squarish extension on it. Pricetag isn't all that high on them, as most want overdrive, but they are a stout trans. My dad's 84 got a rebuild over 10 years ago for $300 I would guess it to have the BW 1356, but I don't know that as well.

:iagree It's a C-6. There's 1 in my 69 Mustang behind a 428 big block.

For 88 the only automatic choice in the bigger trucks was the C6, with the half tons also able to have the AOD. Some '89s started getting the E4OD.
