I have installed a K&N intake on my 03 CR. Some people have told me that the intake will dust the turbo. Others have also said it will wear away at the pistons. I am a farmer so I am in dusty condtions sometimes. I was wondering if those things were true?

I wouldn't think the filter will hurt anything. Maybe you should put a Outerwears filter cover over it just to make sure.

i agree with the some people. k/n let a lot of dirt throught. i had one on my powerstroke and it did dust the turbo. if you must run it keep it oiled well and watch it close.

Sorry, but that is one expensive motor to risk damaging. The ONLY filters I would recommend on that truck is either the AFE Proguard 7 or the Amsoil replacement for your K&N. The Amsoil Nanofiber filter will use your existing intake kit and just replace the filter. I'll look up the part number for your application when I get a chance.

DON'T OVER OIL THE K&N FILTER!!! You will open up a whole new can of worms. The oil gets sucked into the turbo and coats the blades and the inside of the intercooler, making it less efficient and hindering performance.

Being a farmer in dusty environments you are going to need the best possible filtration you can find.

Take that K&N and throw it far, far away. Get yourself an aFe, Amsoil, or just a simple BHAF "Big Honkin Air Filter" for about $40.

Is the drop in factory replacement k&n bad also? I am not going to run a cold ait intake due to the climate I live in.

I have a K&N filter on my truck and I have been through the corn and bean fields following the combines with either grain carts or fuel and on a good day I might have alittle dust in the tube. About the only way to find out the truth is to try it for yourself for awile. Check it once in awile to see if there is dirt in the tube and make your own judgement.
