The IH is a different 727 than the Dodge version(bellhousing). It will fit in the engine bay, but I cant remember if an intercooler will fit too. If one can fit in a ScoutII, then you should be fine.

the transmission would all depend on the size of and brand of diesel. It's hard for me to say this being a cummins man, but your best bet would be to use an older powerstroke sense they started with the same style bellhousing when they were still a gas engine.

the 6.9 should bolt up if I remember right but if you really wanted a cummins the tranny would have to be changed

what would i have to do about the torque converter thaugh would it bolt up to the 6.9 flywheel or would i have to find an adapter to make it work or the 7.3s because i know where a few of them are sitting that a guy pulled out of his trucks and one of them is a turbo out of a 93

I think that it will, but its been awile since the last one that I had to work on. If not you could try one from tranny that was be hind it.

I do not think the same bell housing from an IH 345 will fit. I installed a 6.9 in a scout traveller , I used the bell housing from the f250 I got the engine from. The 6.9 block is a lot larger than the IH 345. If your going to do a conversion get the complete engine or better the whole truck the engine is coming from.
I used a manual trans. with the hydraulic clutch from the f250.

the 6.9/7.3's are based on the mv series engines, not the v series.
mv is a 404/446, not a 345/392.
if you can find an old loadstar with the mv, the bellhousing is what you need!
look at your 727 housing-- see how its pretty much round? that mv wont be, more like a ford with 'ears' sticking up.
