hey everyone im having fun with my duramax but my very first love is my 91 suburban its a gasser and sitting in my garage but i want to repower it what engine should i swap into it ?

a 12v cummins would fit real nice.

Not all that bad, really. Most of the computer and electronic stuff is mounted to the engine. Similar to swapping in a Cummins ISBe, it's just going to need some little things. Find a truck at a bone yard with its Duramax already pulled, and you'll see how little wiring is left in the engine compartment. It's not as bad as it looks. Dont be intimidated, what's a couple extra wires?:deal:

You'd have to have the column, cluster and dash harness out of the donor truck to run the Dmax, plus EVERYTHING from underhood. Then comes the excitement of trying to fab in all the parts....oy vey.

The 12v would be easier to do.

What would need to be done to a 1/2 ton Suburban to swap in one of these?

Read in diesel power mag that about simular thing. they suggest 6.2/6.5 because size shape and parts same as 350/454 mounts etc. 3/07 issue:usflag :deal: thinking about doin to either my 99bur 4x4, orr when i plan on rebuilding my 884x4 which i got a dana straight axle donated to me. and my old tranny and trans case from my"old" 90 burb. keep posted on what you go through so i'll know what to expect.:evil: :shrug: :sly: if i can helpiwould.:smoke :smoke :smoke :cool2: :grd :musicband

4 Cylinder cummins would work great in that burban. Still have plenty of power and do real good on fuel.

Does anyone know of a place around Kansas City that will swap a diesel into it or how to find a place?

Ebay is a good place to find used 12v's 24v's and dmax lb7 lly and lbz.

Powerstrokin350, thanks for the info on the mag. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I just picked up the issue with the 6.5 info in it.
