Ok, my dream truck is a 76-79 F-250 or 350 with a 7.3 Powerstroke engine in it. How far from reality is this? I'm fairly proficient with a welder and I have some good resources I could draw on for help as far as lining everything up. I would like it to be 4x4, with 6" of lift, 4" down pipe into 5"stacks. One of my big hang ups when I try to think it through is getting all of the wiring setup. So I was just seeking others thoughts to see how far fetched my dream is. Any feedback or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It's not a far off dream at all. I forget who's done it, but there's one running around on-line somewhere. I think it's an early 70's Ford truck. Not possitive on the year, but for some reason a '72 sticks in my mind.

I did a little quick searching and found the one I was thinking of. It's a Green 1972 F350 extended cab. User name is 72Pstroke.
Another one that I remembered (& have seen in person) is an early 50's truck that's orange w/ a PSD in it. I saw it in Houston, but I'm not sure if that's where it's from. It might have just been on a tour going from city to city.

It's not far fetched at all. I'm in the process of putting one in my 79 F-350. I would find a complete truck to get all the wiring and small parts from. ( i bought a rolled 2000)

If you have the room, that's the best way to do any swap. A donor truck has lots of little things you'll need.

Let us know how bad the wiring nightmare is once you find out. The mounts and crossmember modifications aren't that bad but the wiring kept me from dropping in a 97 power stroke engine. If you want go to the dieselstop and check photos under my username. I have some of the crossmember mods and motor mounts.

Now, you guys with the IDI have me thinking. It's be easier to wire up compared to the powerstroke, and I could also get a turbo kit for it from hypermax. Thanks, I appreciate your input.

If anyone is interested I am getting ready to sell my 91 7.3 with a ATS Turbo kit on it. The engine has 110,000 miles on it and runs. It has a light knocking sound when you first fire it up but after it warms up it is fine. We just put the engine in my dad's truck and now it is getting a cummins. I think the noise is a lifter or rocker arms. The truck hasn't been driven in a while because the transmission is messed up which I would sell also. It is a E40D. I want 1600 for the engine and turbo kit. Pm me if you are interested. If you are in the area you can come hear it run since it is still in the truck.

Oh I also forgot to mention I have a 6.9 in a 1976 chevy. The conversion wasn't so bad once I installed a body lift on the truck. The 6.9 is coming out and I want to put a powerstroke in it hopefully.
