Heres what I got.
01 Quad cab CTD
Auto W/ Suncoast converter
300hp Bosh injectors
HTB2 62mm compressor and a 12cm housing
full 4" exhaust system.
Edge Comp box.

After about 500 miles I'm concidering upgrading two sizes on the compressor to the 66mm compressor (sled puller 66) or the 64mm (Killer B-2).

While pulling a really small car (Toy Tercel) on my hauler approx 1000lbs plus car, Edge on 3+1 she gets a bit warm for my taste. 1300 deg while crusing down the freeway, ok ok I was going 80 but still...
Was thinking if I had the next compressor size at least the 64 it may help a bit.
I kinda want ot keep the smaller exhaust housing so I can still get out in traffic without getting ran over by a Honda.
Any sugestions?
Also I just put on some 38's so the drive train has slowed a bit adding to the temp, with the 315's it was ok I guess but still a bit to warm.

IIRC, Cowboyup20x runs the 64mm killer..... He seems to like it.... You may wanna talk with Jetpilot. He has a pretty fair understanding of about what you will be looking at as far as heat and lag.

Your exhaust housing is to small, get a 14cm. What 300hp injectors?

Wow sorry for the slow responce.
The injectors are Bosh 300hp injectors from Gillett in SLC

I was concerned about swaping to the 14cm housing for lag. its not to good with the 12cm as it is.
What ya think?

Thanks

I said get some injectors to help with your turbo lag LOL , just playing. Your 300 hp Bosch injectors if it is a standard output are only adding 65hp.... Your truck will still have the lag, the S300 is a whole different animal compared to a Holset. I went from 80hp injectors to 125hp injectors to get mine to spool like I wanted it. I think you should check your valvetrain also. Have you ever had your valves relashed?? Those EGT's are very high for what you have and what you are doing with it.
Also, turn up the "smoke" setting on your comp box, and see if it helps with the spool up. It will fuel harder on throttle which will help spool the turbo.
Let me know.

Thanks Cowboy, I'm looking at changing injectors right now.

Anyone need a set of almost new 300hp injectors?

What did you mean by "valves relashed"? I just adjusted them approx 2500 miles ago when I installed the injectors, but the head has never been removed.

I have the box set on 5+5 and its ok I guess but still dont like the lag, still getting used to the diesel I guess been driving gassers for a long time.

I'm heading to the hills tomorrow to do some rock crawling so I'll get a good test in and report back

I was just thinking, most of this "spooling" problem came around the Suncoast converter time. feels like the converter locks up and 900-1000 rpm so I cant get any rpm to get moving.. Whatda think about that?

Thanks for all the help.

Just call the injectors stage 1's, or someone my get confused and think they are for a 12v because that is one of their upgrade injectors.
Relashed, just adjusting the clearance of the splitter from the rocker arm to valve stems. We have had them out of spec, even if the head hasn't been off.
What % lockup is your tc? 89, 91, 93
:smoke:
I also just saw the 38" tires in your sig  , what gear ratio do you have (3.54/4.10)? That could contribute to some of these problems/readings.

The new converter will be tighter than stock and yes it will contribute to more lag. But as long as you have proper shifting of the transmission, it should not make a 12cm truck lag real bad. In fact it should be pretty peppy.

Cowboy

Stage 1's it is then. and relashed they have been then, did it with the injector swap.

The 38's were installed after al the upgrades and there is hardly any differance between the 35's I was running and the 38's with the lag problem, I'll have to check my ratio and get back to ya on that one.

And you know what? I have no idea what % lockup my converter is, sure feels like a 90 something.

And DavidT

This damn thing doesnt get moving till about 35 mph at best, better be hanging on when you get there though.

I went Rock Crawling today and had a good experiance with the new turbo, overdrive off 70mph Comp on 3x5 1000deg I could get it higher but pulling my jeep at 70 is fast enough.

I'm still thinking the damn converter is a problem, before it was installed I could roast the rear tires right to the cords, after the converter install I've had to put in 4low just to pull out of job sites.... It just sits there smoking.......

More ides?

Give Joe Webb a call and find out which converter you have. There are different ones with different stator designs. You could have a tight one, but Joe I don't think offers those up unless requested.

But you are correct, a tight converter could cause it.
