: got my 6.7 with 6sp Auto
curleymegacab 04-15-2007, 03:31 PM Hey, greetings from CA. I FINALLY got my truck..... It's the '07 RAM 2500 MEGACAB. This thing has the quickness of the HEMI& the space to sleep in the back when I get in trouble.
IT's the laramie model with most of the options. Future plans to be lifted 4-6 inches. Maybe some computer upgrades.
Has any tuners become available yet????
Curley
diesel_ram_man 04-15-2007, 03:33 PM No tuners out....yet. Still gotta find some way to bypass the DPF.
curleymegacab 04-15-2007, 04:00 PM DPF? Is that the EGR system???? I don't care for that SMOG stuff, especially from CA.... But I drove the 5.9 and felt that the 6.7 had more POWER off the line. AND much quieter.
Curley
diesel_ram_man 04-15-2007, 04:39 PM Yeah it has the whole set of emissions stuff on it. The DPF is one of the big reasons the exhaust sound is so quiet.
HighTQCummins 04-15-2007, 05:02 PM you will have to w8 a while before you do power stuff. That DPF is gonna be the most annoying thing to hit the diesel market ever
Smokem 04-15-2007, 05:30 PM you will have to w8 a while before you do power stuff. That DPF is gonna be the most annoying thing to hit the diesel market ever
I disagree. EGR is the worst thing to ever hit the diesel engine.

yes but EGR's can be removed or you can buy a truck w/ out one, then do performance, w/ a DPF system you can't remove it (yet:sly:) nor can you do performance.
444turbodiesel 04-20-2007, 11:36 PM I bet Mr. Bluewrench can remove it :sly:
John DiMartino 04-21-2007, 12:03 AM Enjoy your new truck. Why is everyone so against the DPF? Like its the end of the world,it really doesnt do anything bad,and cleans the soot without hurting power. Ill take a new 350hp truck with DPF anyday over a 150hp one without it,because thats about all you could get that would pass an emissions test if it wasnt for the DPF,you'd all be running 4 cylinders with AIR pumps and EGR :pointlaugh
thejdman04 04-21-2007, 12:08 AM i drove a 5.9 and 6.7 back to back, both automatics (though one is 6 other is 4 of course), the 6.7 felt a lot better, more pep. I love the engine brake option dodge really did well on that one. Of course, didnt have a chance to really test it (tow w/it) but empty w/tow haul and exhaust brake, should be great, good empty.

totaly not true. The DPF is a huge increase in backpressure on the exhaust system, so to say that there is no loss is power is wrong. Ford, DCX, and GM all had to increase the power considerably of there engines to accomidate for the loss due to the DPF. And as soon as you start bombing one of these trucks w/o removing the DPF your going to be getting worse fuel mileage, and the DPF will not last long.
what i think is funny is dodge fained almost 1 ltr of displacemnet and rates it the same hp and tq. lol... I think they are sandbagging us...

isn't it like 305hp I believe they wnt backwards in hp and torque.
Snowaholic 05-15-2007, 10:39 PM isn't it like 305hp I believe they wnt backwards in hp and torque.
That was the first 6.7l Cab and Chassis models. The regualr pickup models are 350
John DiMartino 05-16-2007, 03:32 AM Yes hp is up to 350 and torque to 650,where is the loss from the DPF? The last chassis cab dodge made (2002)had a max hp of 245/505,the current DPF 6.7is 305/610,a huge gain.
question, how did you get that. on dodge.com... the 5.9 is only option on a mega cab... or do they just suck at updating web pages?
Snowaholic 05-16-2007, 08:02 PM They suck BIG TIME... I think they have a few more worries over the past year, with declining margins, that Web development has been dropped to the bottom of the totum pole....
cumminspride 05-16-2007, 08:32 PM Sorry about that, I got my info off dodge.com also.
John DiMartino 05-17-2007, 01:29 AM If they areselling 5.9s,they are built 12/31/06 or older. The 5.9 isnt being produced for Dodge at all anymore,it doesnt meet 2007 emissions.
RebelBullrider 05-17-2007, 02:32 AM actually the 5.9 was made till feb 07 according to my dealer unfortunstly i couldnt find a 5.9
6SPDMANUAL 06-04-2007, 05:45 PM i do not know why everyone is so against the emissions stuff either. i also do not know why there are so many yuppy punks with a truck as a race car, thats spits black smoke all over the place poluting the air way more than the rest of us. these trucks are plenty powerful enough from the factory. my stock 6.0 pulls 18k at 85 mph. the dodge i used to have would do the same thing, with less power. so all this race car crap is unneccessary.
oh look at me i am coll cause i can go 100 in my big tank, but thats only because i am too afraid to go 150 in a small nimble machine that was made for this type of speed. knuckleheads.
horsiedave 06-05-2007, 05:18 AM I got my 07 6.7 3500 series and its the best truck.Loads of power,i smoked the tires, great gas milage(15-20),will pull a house and very little turbo lag.Amazing from such a simple engine.I can't wait fot the mods, but even stock it's very impressive
gsbrockman 06-08-2007, 03:53 AM I've had it for 8 days and 404 miles......no complaints yet. I have around 1/4 tank of fuel remaining, so I guess I'll hand-calculate the first tank Friday (I'm quite sure the dealership didn't fill it up the same way I would have).

HighTQCummins 06-08-2007, 04:39 PM thats a nice truck. How does it ride being short bed 3500 and all? I like that color.
gsbrockman 06-09-2007, 01:32 AM thats a nice truck. How does it ride being short bed 3500 and all? I like that color.
It's on a 160.5" wheelbase, so the ride is good, even though it's a 3500 with overload springs.
I love the Electric Blue......since I ordered the truck March 23rd, I've not seen many RAM's at all in that color....especially 3500 SRW's. I've actually seen more Cab & Chassis in that color than regular pickups.

McDiesel 06-09-2007, 03:32 PM lol yha id like to pull up next to him and show him black smoke scince i guess im some punk that thinks my truck is a race car:usflag
Smokem 06-09-2007, 11:38 PM ugh.......
The 2 big things most people know about the 6.7 liter Cummins is that it has a EGR Valve and a DPF. Too many people are crying about the DPF, but that's nuts. The EGR valve is horrible. That's what we should be crying about. All the DPF is, is alittle backpressure, that's all. The EGR valve hurts fuel economy, hurts power, hurts engine longvity, INCREASES EMISSIONS in the form Hydrocarbons and Carbon Monoxide. Only to reduce NOx emissions.
So why are putting these too things on the same level? Some people got there eggs in the wrong basket.
I'm curious about what kind of fuel mileage you are getting out of your new 6.7.
