Ok, who here has hooked an Allison trans to a 5.9 and installed it in their truck?

If I would have thought about it I would have swaped in a Alli !!

Just got done installing a new 48RE, I wasnt able to find any good info on the Alli swap.

It's not just the Alli. Ya gott'a know Caroll' to get it right.

However, I think there are some 5.9's and 8.3's with the 1000 or 2000 behind them. Although I think those set-ups are in the Fords. Maybe Duke will chime in and give us a rundown? :shrug:

2000 series in the 650 behind the CTD, I know, have listened to it howl for to many miles.

One of our frieghtline rescues has a 5.9 and an allison behind it. I have always woundered why they can't put this combo in a pickup :shrug: . It would be sweet if they did see ya :popcorn:

That brings another questn...... would your trucks CTD and a 2500 have the same type of 5.9? I mean, could there be different blocks. One block for light duty and one for heavy duty? :shrug: Would they have the same buckel?

It could be a different block, but I have to check it everytime I drive it and it looks exactly like my truck motor. Its a 24v and I think its a 2000. But who knows. :shrug: . See ya :popcorn:

I believe the block is the same, heads could be different, but the block is more than likely the same. The CTD in our 650 is a 225HP ( :barf: ) version, I keep trying to talk the boss into letting me play with it a bit. Haz is lucky, his truck has the "emergency services" version rated at 350 Horse, I think.
