I've heard of quite a few in the 13.5-14.xx range. Never heard of one in the twelves though.

If your goal is to go fast get an auto, IMO.

You have to put your clutch through a lot of abuse to run fast with a manual as well.

best i have done is a 9.04 1/8th and it was with me grinding 3 or 4 times trying to get it in 4th.

IMHO the auto is what you want for racing, and the manual is more for hauling. The manual has MUCH more controll...thats my only reasoning for prefering it for hauling.

Jeff Prince used to run 12's in the quarter launching in 3rd, until he blew the clutch discs on his Mitchell DD. He had a Regular Cab 2wd 5spd with a set of Holset twins. Now he runs an auto. :smoke: :smoke:

I tip my hat to anyone who can run a 13.xx with a NV5600. I think you could give me 700hp and i'd probably run a 15.xx. This is the slowest shifting tranny i've ever driven. Don't take that as a complaint on my part... I didn't buy it to go fast but to get me from a to b and take care of any hauling duties. It's awesome for that.

Chris

P.S. If anyone has video of a 6spd truck running anything faster then 15's i'd certainly enjoy watching it.

Ford uses a ZF tranny I think?? it's a good bit different from the NV5600 and shifts different. I've driven both and just prefer the NV5600, feels more like a truck tranny should, the Ford has to much of a car feel to it for me

Im no longer a member of the TDR,but there was a guy on there with a black 2001 HO 6speed,big nozzles,B1 turbo, and a fueling box, that was running 13.1's. There is a video of it on the TDR,if your a member i think his username was 01 HO,but im not sure.he said he had a pulling clutch, started in 3rd,slipped it getting going and skipped a gear once under way.The truck is a long box qud cab 4x4, a pretty heavy truck,I was amazed, watching it rock down the track on the vid. That guy knew how to row the gears.
