So I asked him about mods on my new '06 deisel, meaning air box and kitty back exhaust.
he said as long as the "stuff" was not directly responsible for a failure, then it O'tay to put on.
Is the fellow "putting" me on or what, cause I would love to put an air box and kitty back exhaust on. :woot:
hope I have'nt crossed lines here

It takes a real Bozo of a service manager to fail your warranty over an intake and exhaust. If they are telling you it's okay, do it! Remember, they have to PROVE that your mods caused the failure.
BTW, welcome to the "Dark Side"

WHAT bg SAYS IS TRUE, But you have to initiate the action and while the burden is on them to show it caused the failure, most people just get ripped off, its a shame. You ought to be able to buy those trucks with no warranty and they take1000$ or so off and deal with it on your own! That should be an order code just like DEE is 6 speed, You should be able to select OFF, for no warranty and your price drops a grand or two and you are on your own.

jponder,
not to start an argument, but would'nt it kinda expensive if you did not have the warranty.. If the was a defect caused by part failure or anything other than an aftermarket product the owner would be up the creek. Yes i realize that the owner deleted the option of a warranty, at that I feel it would be worth more than a grand

i would think as long as your mods didnt mess with the computer it would be ok.
Dom
p.s. warentees are worth their weight in gold for brand new trucks imho...

I'm not sure what it would be worth to be honest, It would be a cool option for people who are going to mod anyway and want to deal with the work themselves or a particular mechanic. Marietta Dodge makes people commit to having up to 4 hours of diagnostic work done to determine problem. So they could pop you with a 300$ bill and say it wasnt warranty work.
If you have a good dealer and truck has a problem and you just bring it to them and they fix it or tell you its not warranty and you can fix it yourself then a warranty sounds cool. Thats not the way it works at the dealer i bought my truck from

Ok, now that I thought about it, the whole thing would be on the owner of said new truck. I still feel the savings would be big, cost projections and the like, on and on, not only for the customer but the Company. me I'd never opt out, personally, so I would pay a bigger ticket, natch.
I worry about the owner that has NO, NADA, ZIP understanding. Some people would cry foul or cry if they got hung with a new rope, LOL
