Anybody upgrade to the BHAF or other intake system? I'd like to see photos if possible. I'm not going to spend alot if the benifits over stock aren't substantial. I had the stealer install the Jake, but other than that, the truck will be stock, pretty much. I have an '06 and the service guy said that new intakes will not be a warranty issue. Can I count on that word alone?
He did mention that a guy with a fried #6 piston was denied warranty because of a banks system which was turned up too high! There were codes thrown. That would suck big time!

I dont know about the BHAF on a 3rd gen. I have not personally seen one. My opinion is that if you are gonna pay $50 for the filter and have no heatshied, Id drop 200 on an aFe and be done with it..

Thanks. I'll check it out.

Also, if you arent running heavy mods, you will be okay with an aFe drop in filter for around 70 bucks... Then you can swiss cheese the bottom of your airbox for more flow.

Get the AFE stage 1 and be done with it, the warrenty will not be affected. My truck has been in with it in and there has been no problems. All you will have is lower egts, and alittle more turbo spool up. See ya

The AFE stage 1 drops in like the stock air filter, I assume? Haz-mat 19, would you also recommend drilling out the bottom of the stock air box as well?
Thanks for the input, Timbeaux. This AFE for $70 is cleanable, right?

AFE makes a box for the '06, why do a drop in and drill out the bottom of your air intake box? check out www.afefilter.com, if you scroll down on the main page their is a link to the '06 intake system.

The $70 replacement is cleanable and about a third of the cost of the stage 1 system..

little john,

The drop in AFE is available in the PG7 material and does help, however if you plan any HP mods I really suggest the Stage I system, it has a new box, larger conical filter and you can even get the intake tube replacement for it too to get better flow over the stock ugly flowing one. Look hard at the PG 7 elements too at www.porguard7.com. Call us if you have any questions etc.

Hey, Mark, thanks to you and to and timbeaux and Wizzo. I was hoping not to spend $350 + cost of turbo tube right now, but I'm sure the clean air will be great for my Dodge and I'm prety sure that I don't want to keep the stock box for long. It seems that a while back on one of these forums, there was described a BHAF with a homemade metal heat shield made from a woodstove pipe which was cheap but thorough. Have you seen this set-up? Is it completely outdated? And too redneck---I'm not afraid to be what I am!

Dude the complete AirAid setup is way cheaper. It comes with the Tube for like 250. Don't get caught up in the hype of the AFE.

I just put one on a customers truck today. Pulls a lot harder up top. He loves it. http://gogodiesel.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=32_39_41&products_id=16

Thanks, guys! Have any of you seen or used Tru-flo? It it a foam filter system that boasts filter media which is 98% air and the video shows that the filter supposedly cleans what others let through (3 to 5 microns rather than 10 to 15?) and the air flow is as good as some of the aftermarket filters. There are just a lot of choices out there. Hey, PSD, does the Air Raid offer a turbo tube as well, which would improve the air volume going into the turbo?

The AirAid has a modular intake tube that removes the stock silencer in the middle of the 2 rubber 90 bends.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'm considering the S&B Intake system, which can be had for $201.47 shipped to my door including cleaning kit and oil. Have any of you any experience with this? The air box has a plexi lid so you can take a look at filter's condition. Filter has 1million mile warranty so they say. I wonder how the filter compares to the AirAid?
