3406C 8785 nozzles......

I've had the 3zj running for about a month now on the IPD overhaul kit with 16.4 pistons, cat round port reman head with E style exh manifold and CTP 8785 nozzles. My cat turbo says 112-6918, its wastegated and will run 23-24 max boost. My timing is pinned stock.
Pyrometer will hit 900 max. I zip tied the wastegate hose and now the max boost is 28-30 and pyro hits 825-850.
The timing advance and injector pump are both rebuilt as well as a new afc housing. I haven't touched any of these three yet but it smokes pretty good on upshifts and I'm getting just a little more haze than I'd like to have running through the gears (8785s?).
I'd like to advance the timing a half inch on the balancer, and keep the stock turbo pinched for now. Would adding timing with the stock turbo help the haze or should I wait until I have the $$$ for either a 177148 or 174260? It runs good enough right now with no pump/afc mods in my opinion, just the haze and I don't know anyone in N illinois who meter times

You won't get rid of the haze with a different turbo, those nozzles don't match the 16.4 bowl, depending on how the bowl was designed you may get away with advancing the timing.

Do you recall how thick the washers were under the nozzles you took out?

Cal diesel controls and ask for Jim, give him you old nozzle part number and ask him to let you know how different the angle is on them versus the 8785.

We can talk about timing when you figure out which angles which nozzle has.
