How much lift is needed on an 05 F250 to clear 315's or even 305's? Pics would be good also.

Thanks

You can clear 305's stock with no problem. I know you can fit 315's and don't think they'll scrub but with a leveling kit they surely wouldn't scrub. I think a 315 is roughly like 34.5 inches tall while the stock 20's that come on some 06's are 34.1 inches tall. That meaning you should be fine on a stock rim. Hope this helps.

However, 35's on a stock truck will rub when going lock to lock, or when going over rough roads... or so I've been told. I run 33x12.50R18 on my stock truck.

Yeah but a 315 isn't a true 35....It equates to 34.5 according to BF Goodrich and I know all the tire calculators that I've put a 275/60/20 came back with 34.1 inches so I don't think half an inch will make much difference especially on a stock rim. Now with aftermarket rims with different offsets and backspacing it's possible you would have a problem but I know plenty of people with stock 17's running BFG AT 315's and don't have a problem

You would need a leveling kit or 2" blocks if running with a stock rim or an aftermarket with a close backspacing.

It's not just the diameter, but the width will affect rub also as it moves the tires edge further from the center of steering axis, and therefore will have a greater chance of rubbing.

On my 06:

33/12.5 - Stock Height - Stock 17 Wheel = No Rubbing

35/12.5 - Stock Height - Stock 17 Wheel = Rubbing in hard turning, and inclined driveways when entering at an angle.

35/12.5 - Revtek Leveling Kit ~2.5 Inches - Stock 17 Wheel = No Rubbing

Hope that helps.

I run 35 12.5 17s on my X and my dad runs 315/70/17 on his F250. We both have the V code front springs and I have virtually no rubbing during driving. The only place it gets close is the lower plastic valence on the front when turning and hitting a bump. I could easily remove this and eliminate all my rubbing. My dads truck with the wheel listed below rubbed more on his valence more frequently, and he had to "radius" the lower valence by about an inch.

That being said my wheel width is something like 8.5 inches and I rub on full lock on the back side of the tire against the spring. I run Dick Cepek tires and they have a pretty tall shoulder. My dad on the otherhand runs BFG ATs with 9 inches of width and has no rubbing during full lock. My width numbers may be off but I know my wheels are .5 inch closer in than his and with my tires I rub on the springs where his do not yet my tires clear the valence better where he had to radius his.

I think either a level kit or V code springs up front is all you need to pull off 35s. I personally would run the wider rim and either trim or remove the front valence. I probably lost a few feet of turning radius on my X as a result of the full lock rubbing.
