I talk to James over at Linear logic. His interested in your input on what sensors we would like to monitor when using the scangauge 2. I copied and pasted this from PSN.


Hello everyone. I'm one of the engineers that works for Linear Logic (the company that manufactures the ScanGauge) and I'm glad to see everyone is enjoying the FICM xgauge along with the other xgauges available for the 6.0L. I'm curious if anyone in this thread would be interested in helping develop a few additional XGauges for the 6.0L

I have some documents from Ford that list a whole slew of parameters that might be possible on diesels, but to be honest I don't know which ones (if any) would be important to the diesel community, so I was hoping a few people here wouldn't mind taking a look at what I have and providing some feedback. If you all would like I could post a list of all the parameters I have data on, and if any of the parameters seem of interest let me know and I'll code the XGauge up for testing. Can't promise they will work, but it's certainly worth a shot.

Just want to gauge everyone's interest before I just start posting up huge lists and annoying people. Also, if anyone has any questions about the ScanGauge or XGauges feel free to ask.

I think these would be the main

pyro, boost, trans, fuel, EOT, ECT, ICP(HPOP), IPR, FICM, volts

My Scangauge II arrived today. I plugged it in and managed to get the EOT programmed in.
But the problem I'm having is that I don't know what all the abbreviations are.
Nor do I know what the safe operating range numbers for each one should be.

I think the Engine Coolant Temperature is already programmed in as part of the basic twelve readings - it looks like: fWT -meaning Fahrenheit water temperature?

Is "pyro" the engine exhaust temperature?
What is the safe range?

Why is "fuel" given. . .is that a pressure reading?

Below are the current available x-gauge features that I know of for the 6.0, besides the 12 standard ones(not listed below) that come pre-coded in. The ones I use the most on my SG2(you can display 4 at a time) are, ECT/EOT/ICP/BAT-VOLT, plus I have old school gauges for my pyro and boost. All those coding numbers for each sensor or data reading are what you have to enter one time only and it will have the ability to read that data anytime you want, just scroll through and it will be there to put on your screen. I believe you can have an additional 25 stored readings on top of the initial 12 that come with the SG2. I have been very happy with mine. As far as having more data available, that would be welcome. But I think the best thing they could do would be to make a diesel specific SG2 that is set up from the factory to read our brand trucks and others without having to code in the x-gauge features. There is a huge market for us diesel fanatics out there, and we are more prone to want to know whats going on in our engines and transmissions more so than the average gasser owners. Other gauge manufacturers have these type of systems, but are much more expensive than the SG2. In my opinion, I think the most important addition at this point would be the ability to read FICM voltage. None the less, the SG2 is already a powerful little tool for being so small, as it does much more than what I've spoke about.

This is an older thread but this little device is very nice to have. It appears they offer some more gauges now

Great info guy's. I have had mine for about a year now. It has saved me from having the FICM blues. My FICM start to go south, volts were dropping off after start up. I repaired myself, so far so good.

(But I haven't run any mountain ranges with the camper loaded on the back just yet either.)

But "Fuel Pressure" has become a concern now that I'm aware of the fuel tank delamination issue that is plaguing 1999 to 2011 Super Duties.
Apparently, fine particles clog the fuel filters and starves the injectors.

So my question is, which of the Scangauge codes will help tell me when/if fuel pressure might be failing due to clogged filters?

There isn't one you have to add an external gauge. It's on my list of things to add. First determine if your tank is actually steel. Apparently some are plastic so there would be no problem.

So even with analog gauges I picked on of these up tongiht. Yes I know I drive a dodge but what I am impressed with is the quality of the gauge for the cost!

Keep us posted on your new toy Neel. I have not checked how much available data is available for the Dodge/Cummins, but there sure is some great data available for the 6.0 Powerstrokes from these fantastic little devices.
