Ok, 1996 5Ek 3406E. Oil pressure cold is 60psi, hot it is 35psi.
When cruising 1400-up the oil pressure holds 58 psi.
When hauling/pulling/lugging the oil pressure fluctuates slightly from 53-55 psi.
I noticed three times today that when idling hot the oil pressure was fluttering between 35-40 psi. I have done some searching on the net and the only thing that I could come up with was either a worn oil pump, or debri in the releif valve.
Any other thoughts? Is this normal for an "E" model. I have very little experience with them. Almost all of my experience is with 3406b's or those POS 2005 465 Volvo motors.
Would getting the "upgraded" relief valve for the pump be worthwhile?
On a side note, the motor seems to pound while running down the road, atleast compared to a "B" model. I just don't know what to expect from this thing due to my lack of experience with them. Damned thing just sounds to tinny.
On a different note, the motor seems to pound when running down the road, atleast compared to a "B" model. I just don't know what these should run/sound/act like due to my lack of experience with them. Damned thing just sounds so tinny.
