Inframe labor cost

I have a truck with a 3406e and I found a little bit of metal on the oil plug, very little but it was there, I was curious what the labor would be to inframe the truck? I will buy the parts here where I do lots of business and a ful inframe kit is 2500.

our shop bills 40 hrs @ $101.00 = $4000. buy genuine cat parts. if you buy aftermarket parts, when it fails and you are doing it again you no longer have acceptable cores for cat. buy a platinum kit and a turbo cat will pay for the 3 year warranty

The rates around here in texas are only about 75 bucks an hour, but the 40 hours is what I have heard most shops charge. What would be the total to do an inframe on a cat, and also on a n-14 cummins. I dont need to do heads or anything right now I just want to do liners pistons and bearings, basically an inframe without heads.

Same as them ^^ We charge 40-50 hours, depending how much the customer wants done ex) compressor, oil cooler, engine harness... Install a platinum kit with a turbo and get OPT. Our shop charges out at 125$.

Not sure where you are, but Carolina Tractor (Cat) in Statesville, NC just did a C-15 for a friend of mine. The front and rear covers were leaking so he pulled the engine. He called them to make an appointment to have the block counterbored....the service manager told him to bring the complete engine and they would build the engine with a platinum kit, and counterbore for $3500 plus the cost of the platinum kit.....PLUS give a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty.

Heck, I can't even do it that cheap...plus a warranty???? I guess tough times call for desperate measures....

OPT is warranty. It covers part defects as well as workmanship. It stands for Overhaul Protection for Trucks.

3500$ for a rebuild? We should send all of ours to those guys!

I got a quote from a shop here in New Braunfels texas where we now live. They said they would do my n-14 for 7k and my 3406e for 7500. Thats with them having the head rebuilt at the machine shop and parts, total out the door are those prices, thats not a turbo or injectors or anything. I thought it was a pretty good price, and the turnaround was 1 week.

the price sounds to good to true. who's aftermarket parts are they using? If thats the case, remember you will be giving up your cat cores. how long will the shop stand behind the parts and labor? keep in mind if it fails, how much will it cost to do again and have to pay the core charge too.
