Stupid Question
What would happen if I loaded a tune from my old stategy (vxcf4d) on to my truck now that it got a a new FICM and the flashed it to the the new vxcf7d or whatever it is.
The reason I ask is I got tunes written for the new strategy but don't like the way they run nearly as much as my old tunes.

IIRC, it won't work or was it won't run as good? Can't remember! So what's it doing that you don't like? It might be the tunes or it might be something mechanical?
Have you talked to whom ever you got your tunes from, maybe thier is something they could do to the tune. |

Not ever having had mine reflashed by Ford, I have no experience to share.. I seem to recall folks saying you can't use tunes written for a different strategy but I also remember seeing where some folks did that with the Spartan Archive, so all I can say is, try it and see what happens..........
Just curious why you didn't just get the new FICM tuned by Eric or PHP rather than getting the PCM flashed too??

It was done under warranty by Ford, I was told in order for them to program it they had to flash the PCM too.

As long as it is an item still covered by warranty, you can bet I'm gonna let Ford fix it and flip the bill.

You can run the older strategy tunes. I had the same situation, old tunes new strategy, ran old tunes on new strategy, no issue. In fact I don't have any new tunes. So it can be done.

Don't flame me...but I am running the Canned tunes off my tuner after I did the tune revision update. WOW, WAY better than the custom tunes I just recieved. I am almost positive that the newer calibrations are more dependant on the EGR operation. If you have the canned tunes X3/SF3 with new tune revision, give it a try! I'm shocked at how they run and I've ran 20-30 custom tunes in the past 2 years from ID, DFUSER, Spartan, BTS, DP Tuner, DJ's. Per SCT's Website Tune Revision section: -Adds support for new Ford reflashes including the VXCF7 on the 6.0 diesel If your X3 is an older one with the preloaded tunes, you should be able to use the SF3 tune revision to update them. Thats what I did a few months ago. I have an older X3 that came with preloaded tunes. I believe you have to check the serial number though as well. Again, the custom tunes I recieved on this new strategy seem to really lack in the power, so for now I'll stick with the canned tunes.

Maybe a dumb question, but could I try some of the canned tunes for my truck? It's a 2004 F-350 -- I just have an Xcal2, so it didnt come with canned tunes, but couldn't someone email me a canned tune with the same strategy as mine?
Thanks! |
