DT466 fuel system question
Up until recently my truck has always started up just as soon as you hit the starter. Now most days it will start up then die immediately. After about 30 seconds of cranking it will start up and then run fine. This happens almost every time it sits for more than a couple hours. I assume it is losing prime somewhere. Does anyone know of a check valve that may be leaking back or anything else that would be a likely place to start?

the bleeder is one place, or possibly the filter itself. You could pressurize the tank with 3-5 pounds of air. That would generally expose leaks.

There is a check valve under the plastic cover behind the fuel filter, above the fuel strainer and between the filter and fuel connection. Remove the cap, looks like "+" and is pretty easy to remove. There must be a round plastic ball in there that is really round. If missing or deformed, replace it.

look on top for the check ball-under the "+" cap, youll see it, loosen the cap and the check ball is under it, will need a pick or something to get it out, the tube you are talking about should be the "rock catch", you can un screw it and clean it out also, it catchs a lot of debris, should be catched at every service also, it has a screen in it that goes in the same way it comes out.
