1989 Western star wiring problem
Hello guys, my first post here, great sight. Posted this on the rebuilt forum, but maybe I will get some more looks here.
I am having a hard time finding a wiring diagram and parts for my newly acquired 89 4964F Western star. Anyone have a schematic or know of aftermarket suppliers for a wiring harness for this rig? The right side has very dim lights and marker lights turn on off. Truck is pretty solid mechanically but, the previous owner really worked the wiring in the dash over good and not quite sure where to start(lots of electrical tape and wire twisted together. Hopefully someone here can help or I guess the ol rig will move on. ![]() It has a 425 cat and 13sp w/ 355 gears. Thanks for any info. |

Now a new problem. Truck doesn't want to shift into gear from neutral and doesnt want to come our either. Trk jumps when put into gear.
Could these dual disk clutches be seized together? The truck sat for quite some time and didn't have this problem when we parked it. I know my way around diesels but these large trucks I am definitely a novice and advice on this would be great. Thanks again to for you guys helping me out. Truck needs to be road ready next thursday to haul hay home here. Its awful dry. |

88 4964 wiring problem
I have an 88 4964 doing just about the same things, cant find a wiring diagram anywhere and all the wires under the dash are white. that makes it a nightmare to trace wires. If you still have the wiring diagram I would be interested.

With road salt, I'd check all the connections, on and to, the affected lights. The terminals on the wires for the postive lead wire can get severely corroded as well. Had to replace some pins on some of my weatherpack connectors on my KW last week.

On the clutch-
Discs could be stuck to the pressure plate or flywheel, or that the pilot bearing could be seized and stuck to the input shaft.

Clutch-
Or the roll pins in the intermediate plate may be seized and not allowing the discs to move the amount that they need to four the clutch to fully disengage.
