3406b info

Hi! Im new to the site and have a couple of questions. I have a 86 International 9370 tri-axle dump with a 7FB47122 3406b. The pump is opened up and I have an or6051 turbo on it, runs pretty strong and pulls 36 lbs. of boost. Around 5 yrs ago i made it air to air, did not know i should not of done that until I got on here and started reading threads. My question is do I need to have it meter timed or any changes in governer? One other thing, have a round port head on it and would I gain much by putting square port on? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Sounds like you have it pretty well on the top shelf, Tony says the 7fb does pretty well with just pin timing, although meter timing is good if you can find someone to do it. The square port manifold is supposed to flow a little more, but unless your just wanting to spend money I wouldn't worry about it, although with the round port the 36lb. reading your getting you might, I said might be partially a bit of back pressure. If it don't heat, cranks with the bump of the switch, and doesn't drink fuel I'd leave it alone as it sounds like you've done acheived what most everyone is shooting for.

Why not go to air to air? That's an easy 30-40hp. Why do you think Cat went to ATAAC in 1987 with the King of the Hill 425? The 425 ATAAC actually had a lower rack setting than the 400 JWAC....proving the efficiency.
Maybe Tony will be along, he'll get you straight.

Do a search for the 7fb or look in the mod section for Tonys post about setting it up, I believe he states about 600+ hp, I think he recommends the OR 6051 turbo in that post which some say will cross to the B/W 199119 which has been changed to B/W178063, but I like the B/W 199114.
