Louder turbo whistle

 Hey just learned a new trick for all you guys running LLY's Duramax. If you want a louder whistle from your turbo and have it spool up a little quicker here is what you do. Take off the turbo resonator- you know the plastic box that says 6.6 turbo diesel on it on top of the motor. Go to the hardware store or home depot and get a 2" plastic or rubber test plug and block off the hole that the resonator sits on. Also get a nylon nut to put on the threads so the wing nut doesn't back off. Place the resonator back on and thats it. There are no adverse affects from doing this. The only reason the box is on there is to quiet the turbo down, but trust me it sounds pretty cool. Try it!!!

It may, but to hear the difference you need to be standing out side the passenger side of the truck otherwise i cant tell inside the truck yes ive done it and it is still like that, getting a intake with a metal tube makes the best difference and then of course straight pipe, once you save up for it, thanks for the tip tho

I tryed this a long time ago, and I did not notice any differance in turbo whistle and spool up, I took it off and put the chamber back on. The best I found for this is a 4" down pipe back exhaust. That will give you lots of whistle. Even with a muffler.

I have it done to my truck as well. I didn't notice any difference in turbo sound or spool up, but its hard to improve spool up from the EFI live tune I run. Plus I already have everything else that helps with spool up and making the turbo louder, S&B intake, diamond eye down pipe, 4" front pipe into 5" muffler and tail pipe. The turbo screams on my truck
