I think is like what a friend of mine has, it was on it before he bought it. What his does (02 f250) is it allows you to put the transfer case it into low range without engaging the front drive train.
He doesn’t like it and doesn’t use it.

i dont know how that works on a duramax but i made my own 2lo mod way back before full pull was out. it works good. i like it.
