How long should the 6.0L last

I want to know what the life span is on a 6.0. I hear the 7.3 with 200K still has lots of life left on it. How many miles do you have on your sled? I am wondering because I bought mine with lots o miles on it but the mechanic said it looks and drives like a truck with under 100K on it.

Thanks

If taken care of I would bet you can get 300K plus out of it.

Till you are able to get it out of the dealership parking lot or the warranty is over...Whatever comes first.

I've seen a few around here over 300K, the RV business is way down so the number of trucks has diminished quite a bit. I know of two 1M mile 7.3s (both had top end work done, but the block hadn't been out of the truck, and both were bone stock)

I don't see any reason a 6.0 wouldn't last as long as a 7.3 as long as it was maintained properly.

Power-adders always reduce lifespan.

Thanks,
I bought the truck with 200K on it and I am hoping to get another 100K or 5 years out of it. only using the truck on weekends and pulling a 7800lbs travel trailer once a month. it is stock from what I can tell and the only mods I am thinking of doing is the zodad and egr delete, and I have added the 18" dbacks to replace the '05 18" wheels that rubbed the leafs.

Motor only lasts how well it is taken care.

Regular oil changes, fuel additive here and there to keep things clean.

As said above power adders shorten life span.

But an exhaust and intake will never shorten the life span nor would deleting the egr.

And not beating the dog **** out of it will make them last.

It really depends a lot on how well you maintain it and whether you mod it. Also, the area of the country you live in. In the southwest, where it is drier, less stuff rusts and the body and other exposed parts will last a LOT longer. If you live in a humid area, it will have more problems. Another thing to keep in mind is that different components wear out at different times. If you just mean the engine, and you really stay on top of maintenance and you don't mod it, even 500K miles is possible. But by then, a lot of drive train parts will be replaced, etc.
