The Real Deal or Snake Oil?

I just ran across a web site for oil, fuel and transmission additives that almost sounds to good to be true, but who knows until you ask.
The web site is www.lubricationspecialties.com, They have a product for 6.0 powerstroke engines called Hot Shot Secret (oil additive), 404 Fire Power (fuel additive) NT oil additive for transmissions, My question is has anyone here tryed these products, what are your thoughts on these additives.
Thank you,
Ohio Eddie

Another snake oil seller tooting their horn. Try some 2cycle tcw3 outboard motor oil in your fuel at 1 oz per gal. It works well and is alot cheaper. Motor oil and transmission oils are best left alone by using a good quality oil at regular maintainance intervals, by adding additives you can make the oil worse in its performance design. Harry

Save the money you'd spend on the additives and buy good oil, the correct filters, and service the truck a little more frequently. Like Harry said, the only thing proven of any benefit in the fuel is the TCW-3 2-cycle oil at 128:1 ratio. About the only other beneficial items you'd want to consider would be a bypass oil filter system and a coolant filter, at which point you'd be all set.

Bought it with a bad rod knock, replaced the engine with a donor from an '03 F-450. K&N air intake, 3.0" Flowmaster 70, and custom tuning it with SCT. V-code springs up front. Looking into a Gear Vendor overdrive unit...

if it sounds too good to be true, then it is too good to be true.

Go to the FTE forum and look at the mounds of info in that search engine. It is also called Snake Oil on that forum.

I switched to opti-lube's summer. I was running Wally Mart 2cy oil. It mixes at 3000-1( 1 qt = 750 gal) and lubes better according to the chart on Moparman's chart. I was happy with the 2 cy oil but was concerned with the increase in soot on my VGT so I switched and am very happy so far.I was starting to have problems with stricking vanes but since I ran the XPD and summer blend they haven't acted up since (so far). My engine is just as quiet as it was with the 2 cy oil. The only thing is that it is mail order only but I recieved my order in 2 days. Its cheaper to use even with shipping costs. They also have a lube (XPD) with an injector cleaner, higher centrinos and is also an anti jell that cost more to use but reduces/cleans soot. I used this in one tank just to clean things up and then went back to the summer blend. I will use the XPD in the winter when I'm in cold country and need an anti-jell.
