p132b code

After changing intake hoses, egr valve, icp, map, vgt and turbo I finally get a code that goes away once truck is started the next morning. P132B What is wrong with this truck? Truck ran fine until 104000 mile and now with 118000 I am at my wits end. I see several 2003/04 6.0 diesels with the same issues but have not come across the right fix yet. Any help would be appreciated

I've had this code pop up quite a few times. It's because of the latest reflash from ford i believe that deals with the EBP sensor. There's alot of things that will set this code off and it's really hard to determine what it is.

P132B is a code related to the calibration from the recall 06E17. It means that there is a problem with the VGT system. P132B is a fault code that is set if the required boost levels are not achieved during a learn cycle or at specific speed fuel demand points. This code indicates that there are issues with the turbocharger, MAF sensor, MAP sensor/hose, IAT2 sensor, intake leaks, or exhaust leaks, etc.

A solution MAY be as simple as performing the VGT relearn process, or it could be related to the above possibilities. I would suggest to try cleaning the IAT2 and the MAF sensor (w/ MAF sensor cleaner, not carb cleaner)

I take it that the IAT2 sensor is in the intake manifold right? Is there only one if not which one is it cause maybe this is why i keep getting this code once in a while

Drivers side intake manifold. It would be wortha try to pull and clean it (if it looked dirty)

still issues

At this point the truck is running better but once warm and with the temperature outside over 95 truck throws the P132b code again. EGR cooler, MAF, MAP and all other sensors have been changed. what can I try next. I really don't want to trade in the truck but what is next. Lean cycle has been performed and seems to take care of the problem for a while. Are there two temperature sensors on the 2003 or one. On have change the one on the intake. What about exhaust leaks?

IAT1 is combined w/ the MAF sensor - after the air filter

IAT2 is the one on the intake manifold - shown below:
http://dan.prxy.org/Truck/6L_bible_h.../Page_013.html

I have heard rumors of this possibly being related to aftermarket intakes, but I can not confirm this.

Are you experiencing poor performance?

I still get this code also once in awhile. It will clear itself in a day or two or I clear it myself. Truck runs fine with or without code. Mine throws the code when at cruising speed in a higher gear and going up a grade where it feels like you need to press the go pedal a little harder and get it to downshift, kinda like while its starting to lug the engine. But not always. I found if I drive the same route more agressively or use the tow/haul button to prematurely downshift the truck before it starts lugging, the code will never come on. I have tried/checked/relearned/tested everything also, nothing is wrong with the truck. Since this code can only be present if the truck is a 03-04 model year with the inferred ebp sensor flash, then something is wrong with this flash. I think the parameters for setting this code are to narrow in the program(probably for emission compliance). I have been told also that it could be the aftermarket intake, but I really do not think that is the issue. Think about it, can't have this code until you have the flash=bad flash. Do only modded trucks have this problem or completely stock trucks with this flash have this issue also? Harry

what is the answer? go back to the old calibration and change the back pressure sensor or just deal with the issue. You are correct because if I drive more aggressively the problem never occurs.

The description I have heard somewhat matches yours. The EBP value is "calculated" based on an expected volume of air flow (ie from a stock intake). Since most aftermarket intakes flow more air, then (under the inferred EBP flash) the PCM measures and calculates certain values that don't all quite add up. Then you get the code.

It also may also be a result of an improperly applied flash (use of an older version - 41.8 or 42.1 or higher is recommended), etc.

If you do not experience operational problems along with the DTC, it would probably be fine to not worry about it.

I wonder if the broadcast message below offers a simple way (even if it may not be permamnent) to reset it (this is just a portion of the VGT re-learn steps) :

After this reprogramming, the truck should be test driven, the computer checked for a codes and the codes cleared (even if none are present), the key cycled on for five seconds, then turned off twice, then the engine started and allowed to idle for 5 minutes at operating temperature to allow the computer to relearn the EGR valve closed position value. This is to prevent erronious codes or driveability sysmptoms related to the EGR valve an turbo performance. Broadcast Messages 5452, 5529.

I suppose if it were still a concern to you you could have the dealership "re-apply" the flash and see if that helped. I sure wouldn't consider re-installing an updated EBP sensor and then try to match up a flash that uses it.
