DPF delete without tune?

I was under the understanding that you could not remove the DPF without a tune. I guess this is not true?

I was on my way home tonight to load up my new RCD tune. I stopped by a pizza shop to get dinner. While I was waiting for my food, I figured I would return my truck to stock and save the time when I get home.

Well I was about half way home when I remembered the DPF delete. Truck was running really good. Tons more power than stock. No CEL, nothing.

Is there any reason it can not be left this way? If I knew this, I would have never tuned the truck to begin with.

If I have my truck updated with the newest flash from ford, will there still be any sign that I tuned it?

It will eventually regen. We can send you a stock tune to load. You just have to select that you have a dpf delete installed and it will turn off the regen function.

You know you are doing something right when the Ford dealers call you for parts.

I have a stock tune no regen now in my tuner. Just not on the truck. I didnt think it would regen. What would make it go into regen if there was never any added backpressure on the exhaust?

It will after so many miles i cant remeber how many. It is kind of a back up system if the pressure sensor messes up.

There was a thread on another site of one of the first people to remove the dpf, gutted it. His truck was down in a permanent regen. He had to wait 2 months before the first tunes came out to address the issue. Don't do it...........................
