Chevy can prove New Duramax has got 30 mpg during testing at 55 mph

Quote:
A new 36-gallon fuel tank extends the driving range of the 2011Silverado HD. Itís standard on long and short box versions. GM promises up to a country-crossing 680-mile range, or about 18.8 mpg.

"Heavy duty trucks aren't required to be tested for fuel economy by the EPA," Mikulec said. "But [for the single rear-wheel] truck, we've measured around 15 mpg in the city and about 24.5 mpg on the highway. We have the numbers to substantiate it, but we don't have to put it on the [window] label. There are some limited cases where at 55 mph at a steady state going around a track, we can get over 30 mpg."

Sounds good.

If we drove 55 this would be incredible. My mileage with my LMM is well over 20 for the stretch in OK where I have to drive under 60. It drops abruptly once I get back 75 or so.

Where did you get that information?

30 doesnt sound unreasonable. I have personally experienced 23MPG in my truck before.

Good Lord !!!!!!!!! I have to put one foot out the door and push like a skate board to coax 16-17 out of mine. My truck must have been made on a moday or friday because its always been poor on milage.

My problem is no a heavy foot, as much as a heavy truck!

That mileage is great for the new trucks, I hope it is realized in the real world when they start hitting consumers driveways.
