The way I did was cut a slice on both sides of pipe at each end with a small grinder.

Well,I would say cut into it till you see the end of the inner pipe, just be careful not to cut too much where you'll cut the inner pipe.

A few weeks ago I helped a friend put stacks on his Mega cab. We were able to remove all the exhaust with out cutting anything. It was a PIA to get the rubber hangers off. But as far as the pipes we just wiggled back and forth lots of times and used a rawhide hammer to pound a bit and everything came apart.

I tried like hell to get it apart. Wigglin and beatin had little effect. I got so mad i wanted to hook a rope to a tree and drag the dang thing out of there.

cutting torch would do just fine just dont hit any brake lines or fuel lines or just sawsall and then go to a muffler shop and have them flair the end of your pipe to fit over the existing pipe and weld it up
