well, make sure you get one for a 10.5 instead of a 10.25. Well, a 10.25 will work in a 97 and older truck...

I thought the 10.25 and 10.5 internals were interchangeable

Also, I remember reading the 05+ 10.5 went to a 37 (?) spline rear axle.I dont know if it is true or not but I did read this on TDS.
You may want to check into it and see if it's true.

The 10.25 ring and pinion will fit in the 10.5 case with the 10.25 pinion race. The race was just modified from a 10.25 case to put the pinion 1/8 inch deeper to accept the 10.5 ring gear. I am not sure if they will interchange, now that I think of it they should.... I bolted the 10.25 ring on a 10.5 trac lock in my 03`. And for the 05 and later I am pretty sure that only the Drw had the 37 spline. (dana 80) anyhow the pinion is the weak link on a sterling I almost twisted mine off. It was bent and had about 6 or 7 stress cracks in it.
