it would sure make someone look long and hard..... the 2-R6 made 350BHP, and only weighed 939lbs.... and you could turbocharge or super charge it..... how much HP would it produce then? the only thing i dont see is the Torque #'s which is what a diesel is famous for... id like to see how much torque it made, and where in the RPM band it made it, because even if it does roll to 10000rpm, if it cant move the load whats the point?

Wankels have a relatively low level of torque compared to a piston engine because it has very low rotational mass.

you wouldnt need alot of torque with that kind of hp. Look at a F1 engine. 800-900hp and less then 300ftlbs.

A turbo or a supercharger wouldnt be needed either. the large lp weinkle is the supercharger.

IF.... you convert the numbers based on a 1265cc displacement. Bump the diplacement to modern levels. the number is

1770hp

Lets just say not quite stock.
Slower than some. Faster than most.

there are a bunch of 2 and 3 rotor wankle's in the 1000-1200 hp power levels.....i just didnt think you could build enough compression with a rotory to fire off diesel.........but the sky is the limit hp wise...no HG....no crank.....no valve float.....the hold on the rotry now is how to get enough oil to the bearings fast enough to keep the harmonics from killing the bearings..... its not uncomon to see a 3 rotor making 1200hp and 100-120psi boost at 10+ thousand rpm!!!

Wankels see a lot of leakage through seals. Apparently it's difficult to close up the engine and isolate the intake and exhaust sides.

However, very high compression can be obtained as long as the materials are strong enough.
