May be odering a new 4x4 F350 or F450 have ??

I know the F350's 4x4 will come with a 373 rear end. The F450's 4x4 will have a 430 rear end. Both use the exact same tire and rim size now. So my question is this, can you upgrade the F450 to the older style style wheels (19.5) that came on them standard back in 02-10?

If you add the 19.5's will that lower the overall gear ratio so it will be closer to something 410 gears?

Also what fuel economy are you guys seeing with F450's? Has anyone add the 19.5's to there F450 yet?

Any input is appreciated.

I don't know, looking at upgrading also. I'll probably just go with a 550.

The 2011 F450 is 8x200mm on the rims so any previous 8 lug 200mm 19.5 will work. Basically the 2010 F350 and many others, are 8x200mm.

You can obviously go with adaptors and the possibilities are endless. I went with 22.5" rims and about a 36.5 tire that changed my overall ratio to about 3.7...so it cruises better on the highway but loses some MPGs in town. 16.5 MPG on the highway with hills and above 17 if it's flat.

Changing the tire and rim size will not change you gear ratio it will change the revolutions per mile of the tires. Does the same thing as a gear change!

You can ask a tire shop the difference in revolutions per mile and get a percentage change from that.
I was under the impression the 2011's had a full box frame, I was just reading Pickups.com and they talked about it being a "C" channel frame. Anybody crawled underneath and looked?

Don't know about the 450, but the 2011 F350 isn't fully boxed frame. It looks the same as the frame on my 2000 F350
