active regen question

I can't remember if I read this anywhere or not -- does anyone know where the unburned diesel will be injected for active regen? Will be it directly into the exhaust like the Dmax so that we won't have the problems of oil dilution? Or will it continue to "make oil" like the 6.4?

The article I read confirms that with the CP4.2 there is an extra injector outside of the motor.

Nice, a much better design.

2008 Red CCSB 6.4 Auto Lariat.
Stock 20's wrapped in 35x12.50R20 Toyo MT's, 3.73 gears, Nav, Backup Cam, Tailgate step, Upfitters, etc.
Mods: AFE Intake, Line-X, 20% Tint, Clear Bra, Husky Mats, Smoked Recon Mirror markers/3rd brake light, Bushwacker Pocket style flares w/ mud flaps + an aluminum Rapid Hitch (one of the best investments!)

From what I've read, only the Duramax is going to have the extra injector for regen. Ford's literature doesn't mention a thing about it, but the Duramax stuff mentions the extra injector several times.

My guess is "still making oil."

Since they will be using the same CP4.2 and the pics in DP look like there is an extra injector; I think Ford and GM will be good.

So did you see a bung for the injector in the down pipe? If so im even more excited about the new 6.7.

No, I wish I could see that for the 6.7PSD or the LML DMAX. In the picture in the article it looks like there is an extra injector. The article also states the 6.7 will not use late cycle injection.

Where did you see that they'll both be using the CP4.2? The Duramax people seem to think it's just an upgarded CP3, and someone even posted a picture (maybe on another forum?)

There are members here in the know that confirmed the new 4.2. A GM guy posted pics of the new pump. I wouldn't spout that otherwise. It's also a topic on the DMAX forums. There is also an LML article about it in one of the mags, I just can't remember which one.

The new pump is a two piston unit instead of three, has two outputs to the rails so no more crossover line and pushes higher rail pressures.
