Rant: On !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok Ford you took our 4.10 gears away from us SRW owners with the '99 Super Duty and shoved 3.73 gears down our throats... NOWWWWWWW you are shoving 3.55 gears down our throats and getting rid of 3.73's!!!

What drives me nuts is they are completely taking away the manual option. I know it was hard as hell to get one in the 6.4 but now it will be completely obsolete. Almost makes you want to buy a Dodge.

that it dose. . .
But i'm sure in few more model years the Dodge too will sent the Manual on it's way. . .

All the military truck's are now equipped with automatic transmission have been for the last 6 years or so then it trickled into the civilian population. . .

quiet a few of the Medium duty truck's are auto transed and they starting to find there ways into the Big rig fields. . .

I think the great USA has now gotten Lazy !

A manual transmission won't be available at all?? Wouldn't consider one anyways, but it frustrates me to no end when its not even an option in any make/model of vehicle. I am still bitter there isn't one offered in the grand cherokee.

What is sooo hard to get about this?
What, 1% sales in manual trannys?
Nobody orders a manual anymore, so why would a company who is looking to streamline production to trim labor costs offer one?
It's business....Keep what you have because this is only the beginning of option streamlining.

From what I understand, the 3:73 gears are still available with the 18" wheel option. If so, then I will order the truck that way, and buy a set of aftermarket 20" wheels and tires.
I'm not really keen on the 11' 20" wheels anyway. The 08' set with the flat spokes are much better looking IMO.

That blows.
I would rather have the 4:10 set over anything else. The 3:73's are bad enough. The 3:55 set will be lousy in town. I hope the tranny is a good one, especially after Matt adds a few hundred horses with those high gears......
Job 2 is starting to look better. Hopefully, everything will be sorted out by then.

[Comment From JwfJwf: ]
I'm not as worried about the new engines as much as I am the new automatic. If Ford can't design and warantee it to last 200,000 mi without major overhauls I would prefer a manual trans option. Why eliminate the choice of options for 2011?

Chris Brewer:
Never say never, John--however, only 1 to 2 % of our customers buy manuals today. We are offering a new 6 speed auto trans that will offer substantially better fuel economy than the 5 speed auto it replaces as well the manual 6 speed. The new 6 speed also offers Select Shift capability to allow you to hold a given gear similar conceptually to a manual trans.

Life changes, so roll with it, not against it.

If I could get 4.10's I would run 37" tires on my truck and never think twice...
