F-450 Buyer beware!

At least that is how the add for the 08' 450 should have read. I can't believe that people were so pissed about the poor fuel mileage the 450 got. The truck weighs 10,000 lbs. It can tow the heaviest trailers with ease. It is not going to go 120 mph. It has 4.88 gears in it you dumb a--. The 450 for 2011 is a joke. It is basically a tow boss package with a wider front end. Gone are the Brakes, the 19.5's and the massive rearend. I have a 06 F450 with a 350 bed on it and the truck is a beast. I knew what I was getting. I love my 06. Now i will have to get a 08-10 450 because the new 450 is really just a 350. Shame on you all who bought this truck and never hauled a real trailer with it, and complained about the truck. Congratulations to all you Tree Huggin hippies for killing yet another one of Fords greatest creations. First the Excursion, Now the F450.

Sorry about the name calling I am just pissed the greatest truck made has just turned into a "fatboy" f350.

Would you like a cookie? complain to ford. You can get an 08-10 F450 Dually, so what's the big deal, I don't think they make a F-350 dually anymore.

Your kidding right?? where exactly do you get your info?? The F350 dually will be around for ever otherwise the F250 and F350 would be no difference other than a badge...

, I though since they made the F-450 they wouldn't make the F-350, ok guess I was wrong.

yup they turned the F450 into a sissy . . . May as well have the 5.4 in it now , i wouldn't worry none about it they still have the F550 with the 19.5's 4.88's and large axle/spring combo, and the 8ft dually box can be mounted on it.

I actually have the local Ford dealer getting me a quote on putting the short dually box you know the 4 door cab's bed ? onto a regular cab F550 4x4 . . .

Wish they'd bring back the Excursion. I'll probably order a 2011 but I'm putting a cap on. I prefer the enclosure.

Why? All an Excursion is, Its a F-350 with a 3rd row with a cap, and slightly different suspension.

They do have a lot of similarities, but they are very different (Excursion and F-series). It's not as simple as just a cap and another seat. In fact many states don't even allow you to do that.

How is it different build on the same frame and plant.same engine options, same interior, same exterior except for the back door. they don't have powerstroke badges, nothing else is really different except the suspension slightly.

Actually the Excursion where very different. The suspension is different, the engine was on different mounts (to make the interior quieter), the dash was different, rear doors where different. So it wasn't just a 250 with a cap.

Also I have to agree with the above rant about loosing the real F-450. These auto makers do things that they think will better their sales. They got rid of the X because of low sales, they are getting rid of the hand shaker because of sales, now they are changing the F-450 because the sales weren't what they wanted. I would blame a lot of that on customer complaints about fuel mileage. Most of that was most likely guys that bought the baddest truck around but still wanted the performance of the 250/350.
