Another 2011 review...check out the mpg's

http://www.pricedigests.com/price-di...uper-duty.html

note:The day finished with an 84 mile fuel economy run that was won by some hypermiling engineers averaging 34 miles per gallon with 1000 pounds of concrete bags in the bed. Without resorting to turning the engine off down hills or other non real-world driving techniques we averaged a respectable 24.1 mpg. The mileage course included driving dirt roads, forging ponds, stopping for school buses and merging with highway speed traffic to our final destination.

What the hell is hypermiling??

I just went to school for the 6.7 one of the first classes the had. The instructor drove from chantilly va to exton pa in a 450 and he got 22mpg, another guy drove the same truck from the plant in kentucy to chantillyand got 24, now thats a 450 with the big rear that kills milage so a 250 or 350 should be much better.

i agree with the above.......if ford has actually done this......crowds of people will be lining up to get one.

Just think what a spartan tune would get out it.

I personally wont believe it til we get our hands on them in the real world

22-24 MPG in an F-450?! I still can't believe it, but it certainly sounds amazing. I hope I can get even close to that.

Aren't the 450's available w/ 4.30 gears only? Another reason why 22-24 mpg would be amazing. I really want to believe it, but I'm skeptical.

Agreed........The only things I can see that would increas fuel economy for th 011 is the new 6 sp trans, and the SCR in the exhaust. the SCR will allow the engine strategy to produce more Nox, thus more power and better fuel economy.

A friend of mine works for J & D marketing. They are hired by Ford to do all the training on the 6.7. He drives a F350 KR 4x4, he is getting average of 18.5 mpg on his trips and going from store to store here in Texas to do the training.

He has seen a best of 22 MPG on very long highway runs, when he is at a dealer demonstrating and training everyone the truck may idle for several hours before it is driven again. So the 20's may be logical for highway. His is a Pre production truck as well!
