that would really be amazing if they do get 30+ mpg over 490 miles!

25-30 MPG would be astounding!!! But, I'm more interested in what the average driver is going to see on a daily basis... I'd be very happy with 20+ MPG.

I believe 30 mpgs are a bit outside what it will get. Not that I know, but I am just speculating from what I have read about it. I figure 16 mpg mixed 23 hwy tops.

According to this recent report (http://www.greencarcongress.com/2010...-20100312.html) fuel efficiency will be "up as much as 30% in the chassis-cab".

Assuming 15 MPG highway, that will get you to 19 MPG.

ahhh my friend wayne-the-hypermiling-wanker-Gerdes

look at the SPEEDS he's running 50MPH ! he also selected the 3.31 gearing, while it is impressive to obtain this kind of mpg, its NOT what 95% of owners will EVERY see.

remember this is the same guy who tries never to exceed 1000rpm's during his "drives" !

im glad to see that the 6.7L can achieve more mpg, but i wonder how much of the
increase is due to the 3.31 rear !?!

With EGR turned down due to SCR technology, active regens will be a thing of the past, as well as the backpressure a constantly loading DPF brings.
Look for all of the new diesels that use SCR to make great strides.

Anyone care to bet how long it will take Navistar to dump their EGR system?

I spoke to a Service Dept manager who had one of his tech guys go to a SuperDuty demo put on by Ford for its service guys. He said they worked the truck pretty hard (harder than normal use) and ended up with 17mpg. This was a 4x4 with 3.55 gears. He said same truck in a 6.4 would have returned 11 to 12 mpg at best.

another BLIND testimony w/ VAGUE references (worked hard, is a
relative term).

a 3.55 geared TRUCK, w/ the newer .67 (vs .71) OD should get better mpg,
but who knows WHAT their point of ref. is.
