Front Bumper Rust

Well I rushed home after work today to wash the truck, since it was a nice 33*, and I have some genetic defect that makes me like to drive a clean car all of the time......but I happened to notice this crap on the fron tbumper!!!

Man, this really bites. I need to grab my owner's manual and review my warranty info!

Dang man Im sorry to see this, I also have that genetic defect about having a clean truck but I can forget that in the winter here in good ol southern Indiana. Are you sure its the bumper and not something from under the bumper cover? If not Im sure this will help fix it..

Here ya go!

That might just be the fix.................as I already tried that earlier!!!

Depending on how tomorrow morning goes, that might be the real deal fix!

I am assuming your still in the 3/36k so they should have no choice but to get your a new bumper.. Hopefully they take care of you this time.. And I promise I was just trying to "inject" some humor in this post and give you a laugh with my above posted suggestion on a "fix" I really dont want to see you give up that nice megacab. Keep us posted Rich, as I am sure tomorrow will be an interesting day at your dealership.

And the verdict is........................................

Question (to dealer): My bumpers are starting to rust. Can someone take a look at them?
Answer: No. Only a manager or director handles cosmetic issues. They don't work weekends.

Question: When do they work?
Answer: Only M-F 8-5.

Question: Hmmm, I work 6:30-4:30, this might be an issue. Well, can you at least confirm what the warranty coverage is for these types of issues?
Answer: No. You have to get that answer from the manager or director.

Finally made it (BARELY) before 5pm tonight. In snowed since Friday and the trucjk is dirty again. But the manager came out to look at the truck and said to just bring it back when the weather breaks.

I said that we both can easily see the front bumper is blowing out pretty bad. He said well, how about dropping it off one day, and the body shop can wash the truck and we can assess it later.

I asked why can't we just make a decision now? Is this covered by warranty or not? (I thought it was pretty simple and clear cut!)

He said that in his experience and his suggestion is to have the body shop clean the bumper and add some clear coat to them. That will fix it. :head-slap: WTF???????? I kindly said that I am somewhat experienced in the auto world and that is not an acceptable nor appropriate fix. So what next?

That made him pretty mad. I wasn't going away and asked if we need to get other opinions or what. He just took my info and said "he would check into it."

So I left.......and talked to a Chrysler rep on the 800 number. -_- A phone call is due to me in 24 to 48 hours.

Document everything, who you talked to, when, what they said, etc... Then give this info to the Chrsyler rep. Dont give up, just keep insisting you want it replaced. If all else fails, its time to get the lawyers involved. Good luck.

Yeah, I will. I just hate this bull crap. I worked for almost a decade at an OEM, and one of our biggest efforts, even for the manufacturing facility, is to help try to coax dealers to be very thoughful and helping to the customers. With a crappy dealer, the OEM is doomed for future business, as the dealer x customer interface is very important.

And you hope that a "new" vehicle should last at least through its warranty period. If it doesn't, then the dealers should work with you......at least a little bit. I can say that I have not had great service with this truck, unfortunately.
