5.9 Gas AKA 360 T-stat

Guys,

T-Stat housing is leaking on my Dad's truck..

It is a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L Gas 4WD QCSB. It also has 3.90 gears

I can see coolant running residue around the T-Stat housing and down the front of the block.. The Degas bottle on top seems to empty out slowing, so beside replacing the T-Stat and Housing, what else can I do to check to make sure that is all of the problem? I really done want to pull the intake!

Also for those that have done a T-Stat do you have any tips?

Thanks!

i know on my older 97 gas burner 360 the intake was two piece and there is a gasket between the lower and upper that after awhile goes bad makes for some vacumn issues my dads 00 model had both the upper intake gasket and the bottom one go out on him at a little after 100,000 miles

me and my dad did it in his shop it wasn't that hard just time consuming you should set a 8 hour day aside if your going to do it mine didn't take that long but its nice to not be rushed

Well, its been done for about 2 1/2 hrs now, no more antifreeze smell. The T=Stat gasket ( well what was left of it) was shot. no wonder it wasn't leaking worse. Gonna decrease the engine tomorrow after work with some engine bright.
