Heat lamps

Anybody here use(d) a heat lamp instead of the block heater to keep engine warm? Years ago my Dad used use a 100 watt bulb under the car to keep the oilpan warm.

Just use the block heater, that's why they put them on there. You run the risk of too many possible problems using a heat lamp when it's not necessary.
